Why Compare?

There are many reasons for choosing either amdro or Amdro Pro. Suppose you want to kill a large colony of ants quickly. In that case, Amdro Pro is your best choice because it has triple the killing power and contains an insect growth regulator that will stop new colonies from growing.

For more minor infestations or for ants that have built up a resistance to traditional treatments, Amdro is the better choice. It has proven successful at killing fire ants and other pests like Asian lady beetles, cockroaches, earwigs, pill bugs, and silverfish.

The main difference between Amdro and Amdro PRO Fire Ant Bait is that Amdro Fire Ant Bait is small, and the manufacturer markets more towards homeowners. Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait comes in a 25-lb. bag for larger commercial applications. If you are looking for something with high residual control and kill power in a single product, then Amdro Pro is the clear winner.

Amdro Fire Ant Bait Review

Amdro Fire Ant Bait attracts fire ants and kills them. It is a good solution for the whole season. This treatment can be put at the base of mounds where fire ants are and scattered where they are foraging. The worker ants carry the bait back to the colony. They will feed it to other ants, including the queen. It kills the queen and prevents the production of new ants, so the whole mound dies.

Amdro Fire Ant Bait can be used on lawns, gardens, golf courses, grass, etc. It is best for broadcast application and individual mound treatment.

Amdro Fire Ant Bait is a liquid bait that you should apply with either an amdro applicator or through bait stations. This product starts to work in about two days and will kill ants for up to three months after application. It contains a fire ant attractant called Amdro Fusion, which makes this product lethal to fire ants because they are attracted to it.

This bait can be used indoors and outdoors in residences or commercial buildings. When appropriately applied, it is safe for children and pets, so you don’t have to worry about them getting sick from this liquid ant treatment.

Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait Review

Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait kills the entire fire ant colony. It includes the queen. Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait is a very attractive bait to ants. Worker ants carry the bait into the mound as food for the colony. The bait is eaten, fed to the queen, and the mound is destroyed. Amdro Pro kills ants right away. Sometimes, the ant colony’s queen dies in a week with other ants.

This amdro PRO bait has a different active ingredient than regular Amdro, the latter being borax. This means that it is much less likely to harm pets and wildlife. It lasts longer on your lawn or garden to keep ants away for 12 months. In contrast, other baits will need constant reapplication (every few weeks).

This is an excellent option for people who have pets, children, or are just looking for the safest product on the market. If you live in an area where ants come from neighboring properties and invade your yard regularly (or if they won’t leave), this may not be as effective of a product, as it will only be available at your entrance property.

Active Ingredients

Both Amdro Pro and Amdro Fire Ant Bait contain the active ingredient Hydramethylnon – 0.73%, an insecticide that disrupts a pest’s nervous system. The difference between them is the concentration of this chemical in each product.

Amdro can you used in Lawns, Gardens, Golf Courses, Pasture, Rangeland, and other non-cropland areas. On the other hand, Amdro PRO fire ant bait can be used in Commercial & Residential areas. Also both indoor & outdoor places.

Our Observation

We applied Amdro Fire Ant Bait to an outdoor area infested with ants. We found that the product killed the ants within two days and provided up to three months of protection from new ant colonies. We also found that Amdro Pro Fire Ant Bait was more effective at killing the entire fire ant colony, including the queen.

However, we did not find that Amdro Pro was any safer for children or pets than regular Amdro. Overall, we believe that Amdro Pro is the better product for people who are looking for a long-lasting solution to their fire ant problem.

Conclusion

This article concludes that Amdro PRO works better than the regular version because it contains a more potent poison. However, the only downside to using this product instead of the original one is its tendency to not work well in warmer climates and seasons (spring/summer). If you live in an area with no winter, then Amdro PRO may not be the best option.
