Active Ingredients

Talstar P’s active ingredient is 7.9% bifenthrin, a pyrethroid insecticide that attacks an insect’s nervous system, causing paralysis and eventual death. It has no odor and leaves no visible residue.

Suspend SC’s active ingredient is 4.75% deltamethrin, another pyrethroid insecticide that also attacks the nervous system of insects. It also has very little odor and leaves behind no visible residue after application.

How It Works

Talstar P works through contact and ingestion to disrupt an insect’s nervous system. It does not provide instant knockdown but instead works slowly to weaken pests, eventually leading to death. It has been working for over three months after application.

Suspend SC is a quick knockdown agent that also attacks the central nervous system of insects, exciting their nerve cells and causing paralysis followed by death. It has a residual effect for up to 3 months.

Residual Effect

The residual effect of Talstar P insecticide keeps working for over three months after you’ve sprayed it. Talstar P is odorless, dries clear, and leaves no visible residue behind.

Similarly, Suspend SC leaves a clear residual on surfaces that continues working to kill pests for up to 3 months after application. It also leaves behind no visible residue.

Application Sites

Talstar P can be applied both indoors and outdoors in a variety of commercial and residential settings. It can be used on building perimeters, turf grass, ornamental trees and shrubs, parks, restaurants, greenhouses, and more. It should not be applied in vegetable or food gardens.

Suspend SC can also be applied indoors and outdoors but has some limitations for outdoor use. It can be used in and around commercial and residential buildings as well as on landscape ornamental plants.

Odor & Staining

Talstar P is described as non-irritating and odorless. It leaves no visible residue or stain after application.

Similarly, Suspend SC has virtually no odor and does not leave any visible residue or stains on surfaces after application.

Availability

Talstar P comes in various sized containers, including gallon, quart, 3⁄4 gallon, and pint. This allows flexibility to purchase only what you need.

Suspend SC comes in 16 oz bottles, limiting purchase sizes. This may require buying more than you need.

Application Rate

The label rate for Talstar P is 0.5 to 1 oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. This provides flexibility based on your pest problem.

For Suspend SC, the application rate is 0.25 to 1.5 oz per gallon of water. This also provides some flexibility in application rate as needed.

Food Handling Areas

Talstar P is labeled for use in food handling areas like kitchens, restaurants, food processing plants, and supermarkets. Care should be taken to avoid contamination of food prep surfaces.

Suspend SC is also approved for use in food handling establishments, again taking care to avoid getting the product on food surfaces.

Our Observation
Based on our observation, both Talstar P and Suspend SC are effective broad-spectrum insecticides that offer long residual control. The main difference lies in the active ingredients and application sites.

Talstar P contains bifenthrin while Suspend SC contains deltamethrin. Talstar P can be used in more outdoor locations compared to Suspend SC.

However, both products have a minimal odor, dry apparent, and are labeled for use in food handling areas when applied carefully. Overall, they are comparable products that safely and effectively control various household and commercial pests.
